The Mogadishu Music Festival is a *fictive* music festival situated in the Somalian capital Mogadishu, founded to speak out against the barbaric act of banning music in Somalia. Its purpose is to make people, and especially musicians, DJs, music critics and music lovers, aware of these inhuman practices in Somalia, described by the BBC as "strong echoes of the Taliban in Afghanistan", who proclaimed a ban on music in the late 1999s. We believe that it is a human right to listen to music, and that the Islamist militants by which the country is controlled are infringing and even violating this right and other human rights such as the freedom of press and freedom of speech ('everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression').

... radio om zeep geholpen door krakers.
Helaas moeten we meedelen dat ... radio Patapoe uit de lucht is gehaald door een aantal krakers, van onze nieuwe lokatie aan de ... straat. De antenne is naar beneden gehaald, kabels door geknipt en de zender hierdoor doorgebrandt. Zij deden dit omdat ze zich onvoldoende betrokken voelden bij de besluitvorming over de plaatsing van de zender en antenne op "hun" dak.
Radio patapoe is weken bezig geweest om weer in de lucht te komen voor de alternatieve sien. We zijn dan ook echt verdrietig en gefokt dat een deel van die sien ons een mes in de rug steekt.
Waarom dit brute geweld tegen vrije radio!!!!
Hadden jullie niet even kunnen wachten tot de vergadering alvorens over te gaan van de sloop.
Dan hadden we in elke geval onze apparatuur kunnen redden en een nieuwe lokatie kunnen vinden.

Wordt de ether met dit besluit in één keer commercieel!?
Radio Patapoe is een brief onder ogen gekomen van het agentschap Telecom, namens het ministerie van economische zaken. In de brief worden de vrije radio-uitzendingen van Patapoe verantwoordelijk gesteld voor een reeks van klachten.
Het Ministerie: Er is een sprake van een groot aantal illegale uitzendingen in de fm-omroepband. Uw gemeente is ook zo'n gebied.
Wij: In Amsterdam wordt amper vrij uitgezonden, Radio Patapoe is een van de laatsten.
Het Ministerie: Illegale uitzendingen verstoren de uitzendingen van legale gebruikers (vergunninghouders). Ze veroorzaken daardoor economische schade, leveren klachten op van omwonenden vanwege storing en overlast en veroorzaken storingen op luchtvaartcommunicatie en op vitale communicatiesystemen, zoals C2000. In uw gemeente zijn veel storingsklachten en storingen op radiozenders van vergunninghouders.
Wij: Radio Patapoe werkt met storingsvrije zenders. Daardoor verstoren wij geen uitzendingen van de legale gebruikers en is er ook geen economisch schade van hun kant. Waar zijn de klachten van omwonenden over storing en overlast?! Op de vitale communicatiesystemen zoals C2000 en de luchtvaart stoort Radio Patapoe evenmin. En dit al meer dan tien jaar samen op dezelfde band. Want hadden we die gestoord, dan hadden we allang uit de lucht gelegen .
De gemeente Amsterdam heeft Radio Patapoe altijd gedoogd als vrij radiostation omdat: Wij niet storen, geen commercieel oogmerk hebben, niet concurrentievervalsend zijn. Wij bedienen onze doelgroep ongesubsidieerd en dragen bij aan de o zo nodige diversiteit op de FM-band. Als economische zaken dit beleid doorzet, is dit weer een stap op weg naar het onvrije radiolandschap. Een vooral saaie inperking van de vrijheid van meningsuiting, met als resultaat een radiolandschap uitsluitend gedomineerd door economische belangen.

The text was written while reflecting on the painfull complaints about these phenomenon by James Morris mixed with impressions of the Neo Rauch exhibition in Leipzig, Germany. I thought it appropiated to let it be part of a 'networked art' piece.

Walkenried, Germany - 28 Juli 2010 Neo Rauch (1960) een schildericoon uit de voormalige culturele hoofdstad van de DDR,
Leipzig, doet zijn generatie eer aan.
DDR nostalgie gecombineerd met militeske schijngevechten, Elvis Presley en luxe automobielen, attributen van het verafschuwde zestiger jaren kapitalisme zijn op zijn doeken aanwezig, evenals een burgelijke kneuterigheid in de landschappen en huizen en verwijzingen naar de toenmalige wapenwedloop.
Zonder ooit expliciet te worden, wordt het DDR verleden op groot formaat doeken ontleed.
Misschien vanwege de ouderwetsheid die voormalig Oost Duitsland door het communistische tijdperk nog steeds omringt, ademen zijn schilderijen een sfeer van vergane tijden, gevat in stripachtige absurdistische taferelen met rare perspectivische vertekeningen.
Gepresenteerd in lege witte kubussen in een nieuw kunstgebouw in Leipzig.
Nog te zien tot 15 Augustus in de Pinakothek der Moderne, Munchen (vml BRD) en het Museum der bildenden Kuenste, Leipzig (vml DDR).

Wij nodigen u graag uit om deel te nemen aan de derde editie van het KLEBNIKOV CARNAVAL.
U kan tot en gedurende het Carnaval (3-5 september 2010) :
* objecten (teksten, beeldend werk, muziekopnames, documenten allerlei,…) opsturen of bezorgen aan dit adres:

Het KLEBNIKOV CARNAVAL is het unieke participatieve festival van de Vrije Lyriek, georganiseerd door Grapes of Art, De Bereklauw en uw dienaar in het Centrum van het Gekende Universum, het onovertroffen Kessel-Lo.
Dit deelnemersfestival is een feest van de ongebonden en ongedwongen creativiteit en vindt voor de derde maal plaats zonder enige vorm van sponsoring of subsidiëring. Het gebeuren wordt uitsluitend gedragen door de vrijwillige inzet van de deelnemers en organisatoren. Jaarlijks kan u zo gedurende normaal 8, nu wegens omstandigheden drie dagen, geheel gratis genieten van poetische voordrachten, muziek, theater, spoken word, een hybride tentoonstelling met beeld, grafiek, vispo, fotografie, installaties en video, kinderanimatie, jolijt en vertier.
Programma:
Vrijdagavond 3 september wordt er voornamelijk muziek gemaakt.
Zaterdag en zondag vinden er onafgebroken voordrachten plaats vanaf 13u tot de voorraad strekt (op zaterdag tot middernacht – op zondag tot ong 20u00.
Zaterdag en zondag werken we ook met gereserveerde uren voor gasten die we zelf geïnviteerd hebben, daarbuiten kan en mag iedereen deelnemen op de manier die zij of hij verkiest. De tijdstippen en duur van deze optredens van spontane particpanten wordt op de moment zelf geregeld, naar gelang het aanwezige aanbod.
Voor deelnemers is er wat drank en eten voorzien, graag een seintje als je wenst te overnachten, dan reserveren we een slaapplaats.

Rammellzee a truly visionary, and maybe the only 'real', hiphop artist passed away last week. We will pay honor to him coming Saturday, July 10, in our radioshow burgerwaanzin between 18:00 and 20:00 CEST
Michel Jacobs texting Nictoglobe
Kaliningradski Oblast 16 Juni 2010 - In de door Rusland bezette zone rondom de Baltische stad Koeningsberg/Kaliningrad bij de grensovergang Kaliningradski Oblast, Polen en Litouwen is de Nederlandse ruiter Michel Jacobs reizend met zijn paard Lista door de Russische grenspolitie aangehouden.
Michel Jacobs is inmiddels reeds drie maanden onderweg van Amsterdam naar Sint Petersburg op zijn paard Lista. Door stom toeval en gebrekkige bewegwijzering bevond Michel Jacobs zich plotseling in Rusland in plaats van Litouwen.
Michel Jacobs is nu in handen van de Russische autoriteiten, zijn verblijfplaats is onbekend. Dit oponthoud kan zijn verwachte aankomst in Sint Petersburg aanstaande augustus aanzienlijk vertragen.
Het Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken is op de hoogte gesteld.

Did Eddie Woods eyewitness William Burroughs 'accidentally' shooting Joan Vollmer Burroughs in 1951?
This question arose when reading James Grauerholz's definitive monograph about the subject. Nictoglobe felt really confused; was the Eddie Woods we know the same as mentioned in the Grauerholz paper?
Luckily we met Eddie Woods during the Fiery Tongues Festival 2010 in Ruigoord and took the opportunity to ask him about it.

In 1987, Laibach, the musical wing of the Slovenian art collective Neue Slowenische Kunst[1] (New Slovenian Art, or NSK), released a reworked version of the Queen song "One Vision".
Whereas the original 1985 Queen song was inspired by the group's participation in Live Aid and espoused a seemingly somewhat vague leftist message of unity and world peace,
it was vastly transformed in Laibach's reworking.
While lyrics about there being one race, vision and solution might easily be passed over as innocuous or not even taken notice of in the context provided by a Queen performance,
the lyrics' submerged obscene meaning becomes readily apparent as it is translated into German and played along in a droning, militaristic style.
Laibach's version of the song, far from being a cover or simple copy,
through its transformation draws out and amplifies the grotesque parallels between the pleasures of pop culture and fascist modulation of crowd emotion through propaganda and epic scale theatricality.[2]

WikiLeaks has released a classified US military video depicting the indiscriminate slaying of over a dozen people in the Iraqi suburb of New Baghdad -- including two Reuters news staff.
